Sacraments

The sacraments are the visible signs Christ left His Church so that His grace might reach us in ordinary, bodily ways. Through water, oil, bread and wine, the laying on of hands, and spoken words, God acts. What the Church celebrates, Christ Himself performs.

There are seven: Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony. Together they mark the whole arc of a Christian life — from birth into the Church, through healing and vocation, to the final journey home.
